LESSONS FROM MY TWENTIES

by Lynn Otieno

From the time we become self conscious and more aware of our environment, we automatically pick  up ideologies that stay with us for a very long long time or even throughout our lives. We keep hearing things like ‘keep a positive attitude’ and other lines that are supposed to help us cope and grow emotionally and mentally. These are great and helpful  but I feel that what’s even more important are your own life lessons, those positive lessons that you take with you along the way.

I have learned in my many years of living that the kind of energy you put out into the world is exactly what comes back to you.How do you approach life on the daily? Are you grateful for the little things or nothing at all?

I have taught myself to give myself some space, and cut me some slack. There was a time when I wanted it all right, but I have with time taught myself the value of being patient with oneself and to be grateful for each day, whether it went as envisioned or not. Whatever we didn’t make work today, we will try again tomorrow.

I have  learned to choose carefully the kind of energy I want around me  because our day to day interactions with the outside world shape a great deal the way we live. What kind of people do you associate with?Do they share your view of the world?Do they share your dreams? Are they growing or building you?Are they safe for your sanity and peace of mind? Now more than ever, I ask myself these questions all the time.

I have learned that it’s okay to say no, to want things done a particular way while, maintaining love and respect.

I have learned that it’s okay to wake up not feeling like you want to do the things you love doing. We cannot maintain a one hundred percent motivation tempo. We are only human and from time to time we have to recede into our safe space and replenish. Don’t beat yourself, a day at a time.

I have learned to choose the kind of life I want to live. A life of free choice, a life filled with love, a life filled with sunshine…A LIFE OF PURPOSE

Have the kind of week you deserve!
