MEET AND CREATE 3.0

by Lynn Otieno

Good morning earthlings! How is your week coming along?Trust you’re doing well. I got vaccinated last week and I’m feeling a bit under the weather, could be symptoms from the covid vaccine or something else.
Nonetheless, if you follow me on social media then you already know a thing or two about Meet and Create. I’ve actually talked about it on this platform before, maybe not at length, but I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before.
Just to bring everyone up to speed, Meet and Create as the name suggests, is a forum that brings together digital content creators providing them with an avenue to network and create content with like minded people. This includes photographers, bloggers, make up artists, fashion designers, stylists, models, etc. It’s safe to say it’s a space where creatives get to express themselves freely without fear of judgement. The best part yet is that we have a wonderful support team that doesn’t directly fall in any of the above categories. But they ensure that the team gets what it needs when it needs it.

The world is changing and I would love to see a world where kids are given the opportunity to pursue whatever it is that they are passionate about. A world where people are able to pursue the arts for a living. A photographer friend of mine once told me that more often than not, people get shocked that he works full time as a photographer, and one time one of his uncles asked him if he had any other plans for his career. I mean 😁. And this is the reality of many creatives trying to carve a niche for themselves in the world of careers.
This is the narrative we want to change. This is the kind of thinking we want to unlearn. Our children should know that they can be anything they want to, that no one career is better or superior to the other, that they can do something they love and still make some coins while at it.

So this past Sunday we held the third edition of Meet and Create and it was all sorts of great. Everyone did their part and you will see for yourself the outcome and the beauty of teamwork. We were hosted by The Monarch Gardens, which I think has a charming aura and the perfect location for content creation. And oh, the food is amazing.
